Portrait:Description:Tanake ha sempre vissuto con suo fratello ai margini del villaggio dei Gorako: era considerato un ladro, poiché, non avendo un padre, in più di un occasione doveva rubare per sopravvivere. Fin da piccolo, da quando suo padre Shinji fu cacciato dal villaggio, la gente lo trattava quasi fosse nulla. Ciò gli diede la spinta per dimostrare il suo valore, prima mettendosi in continuazione nei guai rubando armi ai guerrieri, cibo agli altri bambini e vestiti ed armature dalle tende dei conciatori, poi entrando a far parte della cerchia di guerrieri scelti del khan per scortarlo nelle sue "missioni di pace".
